During 2000, it was reintroduced
to the House ‘Viveros, studies center belonging
to the Ecological Foundation ‘Gabriel Arango Restrepo
located in ‘Rio Blanco’, a group of white
tail deer, in order to let the visitors know a different
mammal species extinct in the region.

The Rio Blanco reserve is one of the
last remnants of High Andean Forest that are left in the area
of the Department of Caldas, and is the cloud forest with
the highest diversity in the nation with more than 40 species
of mammals registered.
Furtive hunters pursue these species,
entering the reserve and, along with deforestation, put the
greatest pressure on the fauna. One of the central goals in
publishing results is to support future investigation in order
to strengthen processes of environment sensitivity and education.
