This group of animals has become very
important in the last few years as bioindicators of climatic
changes and the quality of habitat. A preliminary census to
determine some of the species in the La Navarra zone (inside
the reserve) has been done by Dr. John D. Lynch, the highest
authority in Colombia on these species.
Completing the census and developing
specific investigations on the amphibians of the Río
Blanco reserve, as well as determining how to protect them,
is one of the jobs with high priority within the plan of action
of the Foundation.
