GENERAL TIPS FOR BIRDWATCHING IN COLOMBIA• Pay for your trip in the USA or if you come from Europe, pay cash upon your arrival in Colombia.
• Be sure to drink only pure water.
• Support economically with donations, the sites that do studies and/or protect the birding areas
• If possible use local guides at each site, that supports the development of the areas
• Give tips when necessary.
• We recommend taking a shower every day and that helps us to avoid Lyme disease and/or discrimination due to bad odors.
• We recommend using trekking boots (Rubber boots can be bought in Colombia for less than $ 10).
• We recommend bringing clothes for all climates: long sleeves, never shorts, poncho or raincoat, jacket (it is better to wear two or three layers of clothing than a heavy jacket).
• Let us know if you have any special diet or medical requirement.
• Be aware of vaccines against tropical diseases such as yellow fever or tetanus.
• We recommend bringing sunscreen, insect repellent, deodorant for body and feet.
• Make sure you have complete travel insurance.
• Purchasing some snacks may be advisable for walks or long journeys.
